A Thursday night band practice along the side of the Seine. The light was coming from fancy dinner boats as they floated down the river.
This picture was taken late in the afternoon on a side street in Bordeaux. A friend and I were very lost but came upon this alley.
When I was working on repairing an old house in Libourne (just north of Bordeaux) my friend Alex and I decided that we had to take a picture with the attic space of the building we were working on. This is one of the best photographs of the series. It still has a few light spots from reflection of light on the lens.
A few nights ago, I had almost an entire roll of film still loaded, so I decided to go out (it was around 11:30) and take some long exposures using a flashlight. Of course, I promptly lost my flashlight. I took this photograph because I wanted to get at least one shot for the night. It wasn't what I was planning on doing, but the trees and the lines on the ground helped me get at least one photo that night!
Left over from our first night of long exposures, this is Lizzy posing as I outline the edges in our hallway. I didn't expect her to be blurry but I kind of like it-it sets off the sharp, hard edges of the hallway and gives the photograph an eerie quality.
Hannah and Colin are AMAZING models. They had to be completely still for over two minutes and there is almost no blurry edges. I have no idea how they do it.
This photograph was taken last year with Matt and Ben. I attempted to show movement and a short clip of a story in one frame. The scanned copy is not great quality but both of their faces have a nice, crisp quality.

That to which I aspire
Looking around for inspiration for a photo-shoot this evening, I came across this website. These are pretty much images of my dreams.

And now off to photograph...

Long exposures
Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa. I took this picture when I was on vacation with a few friends. We hiked up the mountain, watched the sun set, and then realized we couldn't see a thing. Hiking straight down this mountain was quite difficult with no light.
Once we were down at the bottom, we called for a ride and I took this photograph while we were waiting. It was something like a twenty minute exposure which is why you can see the star movement behind Table Mountain.
These two photos are from Bastille day in Paris. It was one of the first pictures I took with long exposure and I only had a vague idea of what to do with the settings on my camera. I like the first one because it gives you an idea as to the amount of people who were at the Champ de Mars that summer night.
My friend Alex is posing here on a couch in the 15th arrondissement in Paris. We found a white couch abandoned on the side of the road and carried it around for a few blocks, taking pictures at around 11:30 at night. We got many many curious looks. There are more of these on their way so check back!
These two pictures were taken at a hostel in Paris with a life size chess board. I think if I were to take these pictures again, I would take a series of them, showing each move, drawn in light, before the piece is moved. The series would show the complete history of the specific game.

Saturday Night
My roommate Lizzy and I decided to stay home on a Saturday night rather than brave the cold Paris streets. It is finally starting to feel like fall and the prospect of warm tea and terrible chick flicks kept us inside. We ended up taking pictures instead...
These were the two best from this night, but there will definitely be more soon!
